We are governed by a Committee of Management that serve on a voluntary basis.

The Committee’s responsibilities are to:

  • set the strategic vision and policies
  • oversee financial management
  • ensure adequate resources for service delivery
  • oversee risk management
  • ensure effective engagement with donors and other stakeholders
  • ensure the organisation meets all regulatory and statutory requirements
  • manage stakeholders.
Leon Colla
President
Primary School Principal

Leon is a retired Primary School Principal with 45 years of dedicated service in Catholic education. Of those, 35 years were spent in Principalship across four Catholic primary schools in Melbourne’s western suburbs. Throughout his career, Leon held several leadership positions, including Vice President of the Catholic Primary Principals Association of Victoria and three years as a Board Member of the Australian Catholic Primary Principals Association.

Leon has been a valued member of the Joseph’s Corner Board for the past 15 years and has served as Chairperson for the past three. His extensive experience in leadership, governance, and community engagement continues to make a significant contribution to the mission of Joseph’s Corner.

Ian Sutherland
Vice President
Company Director

Born at Footscray Hospital in 1955, Ian has lifelong ties to Melbourne’s western suburbs. His family’s roots in Yarraville date back to 1920, where the Blanchfield’s were well-known local wood merchants. A qualified electrician from Footscray Tech, Ian worked at the Williamstown Dockyard, in real estate, and later in the international container industry, developing fleets for major Australian projects.

Ian and his wife Katherine met Joseph’s Corner founder Sister Jean Dwyer in 1992 and became active supporters, volunteering from 2001 and joining the Board in 2018. His deep local knowledge and business expertise strengthen Joseph’s Corner’s community impact.
