SR JEANNE DWYER rsj

At the age of 65 when most people are starting to consider winding down and retiring, Sr Jeanne Dwyer, a Sister of the Josephite Order, founded and ran Joseph’s Corner as a charity to provide free counselling to families affected by substance abuse.

For about 10 years before founding Joseph’s Corner, Sr Jeanne was actively working with the 11 Church communities, and many Primary and Secondary schools in the Western Suburbs. Sr Jeanne had an enormously deep understanding of the demographics and of the social and economic issues facing people in the Western Suburbs.

Joseph’s Corner was a practical outcome of Sr Jeanne’s years of work with Western Suburbs church and school communities.

Sr Jeanne was both the CEO and “face” of Joseph’s Corner for 20 years. Sr Jeanne would do anything that needed to be done to keep Joseph’s Corner going. No job was too small or too difficult for Sr Jeanne. Sr Jeanne had a deep and strong faith and it was that faith that not only inspired her to start Joseph’s Corner but gave her the drive, energy and determination to keep Joseph’s Corner operating successfully for over 20 years.
